This species occurs within many localities in the southern regions of both the Kii Peninsula and Awaji Island, and the western and northern regions of Hyogo Prefecture. In other areas, the population is completely absent, or, distribution is patchy and isolated to religious sites such as shrines and temples. This cicada species has survived where forested regions from the Jomon period remain uninterrupted to the present day. The traditional Japanese religious form is deeply involved there and shrines or temples in modern times inherited the pre-ancient worship of nature.},
